Arts and Craft Side Table Finished
A final coat of wax this morning and the side table is complete. This was an enjoyable project, the joinery was a challenge, but the project small enough to complete relatively quickly.
The through mortises have such a different grain then other parts of the table. It makes the careful fitting worthwhile.
As I tidy my bench and spend time sharpening planes and chisels my mind wanders. I smile at my small tool chest as the tools are put away; I look across at my son sitting upon the shop stool, for a moment it’s peaceful.

Nice little table. Clean work throughout. The joinery looks to be first class.
Interesting timing. I was just sitting in my wife’s office at school this weekend admiring how this same table I built 5 or 6 years ago has held up. It is such a timeless design and as you figured out a really fun build. Looks beautiful and those through tenons are immaculate!
Thanks for stopping by. You should take a little credit for the execution, must have been a good teacher.
This looks great! The staying is beautiful and your execution is flawless.
Thanks Joe! Any movement on the gate?
No – I started getting concerned about hanging the gates off of the existing walls and I’m now thinking I will need to sink some steel tube into the ground to hang them. Meanwhile I’m about to make a sharp detour into marquetry…and some more Greene and Greene stuff.
